Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do at Lifesight
I hail from Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. I've always been a science enthusiast, hence, I pursued my graduation in Computer Science Engineering from PES University, Bangalore with specialization in Data Science.
I started my career at Lifesight as a Product Analyst. Currently Im working as a Quality Assurance Engineer. In my span of time at Lifesight, I have worked on providing data solutions, product scoping and a bit of customer support.
You started off as an intern. How has it been going from an intern to a full time employee?
Joining Lifesight as a fresher was a wonderful learning experience. As my time in the company progressed, my understanding of the company and product grew, shooting up my learning curve in new applicable technologies like ES, PySpark along with taking up ownership.
Have you always been interested in tech? What made you choose this career path?
Tech is one of the most alarmingly growing sectors, now incorporated everywhere in every household. Technology has always fascinated me. Be it its fast paced growth in the globalized world, or its contribution in nation building, I have always been keen on understanding technology. I can recall in my childhood I would wonder how technology helped in solving real world problems. Therefore I chose tech as my career path.
Has being a woman in this role affected your work? Did you feel like you had to work harder?
In my experience being a woman has never determined the amount of work I had to put in, as I've never faced any gender-bias in the work environment.
Irrespective of being a woman I've always felt the push to work harder to fulfill my role in the company.
What would you say is the best part about your role?
The best part about my role is the smooth transition I've made from Product to tech as Quality Assurance in a fair span. I joined as a fresher with limited exposure in my domain. Lifesight entrusted me with opportunities and exposed me to different teams, motivating me to work towards reaching a space I always wished to be in.
How has your time at Lifesight been so far?
The 1 year, 5 months at Lifesight have been great so far. The company has a cheerful work environment with approachable and supportive colleagues that make my days at work very pleasant and enjoyable.
Which project did you enjoy the most?
Lifesight has entrusted me with a plethora of opportunities to show my mettle and grow in the process. Nonetheless, I enjoyed working on providing customers with data solutions based on their requirements the most. I worked with a client to understand affluence level and footfall attribution based on the locality they were living in and the devices they used.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Since I grew up in the mountains I'm overall an outdoor person. I love playing sports like badminton, roller skating, and cycling. I play the guitar and read inspirational books in my spare time. I also enjoy cooking, baking and exploring new places.
Which female in your life or otherwise do you consider to be your role model and inspiration?
Womanhood as a whole inspires me to be a better version of myself each day. If I were to name one woman (out of many) I'd say Kalpana Chawla is my role model.
Her incredible journey from a small district named Karnal in Haryana, to NASA breaking all stereotypes is very inspirational. Her passion and determination to touch the stars made her the first Indian woman to reach space.
